  1. Many old plane are still being used in other (third world) country.

I was once in Peru and we flew in a cargo plane that resemble the planes from the WW2 (propeller cargo with pull out window) - the kind you see in Indiana Jones movie.

So a 717 would be a step up for them.

    Good Luck..

  2. Yes it most likely still in service but production ceased in May 2006.

  3. The 717 is still in service but production ended. The Boeing 717 is a twin-engine, single-aisle jet airliner, developed for the 100-seat market. The airliner was designed and marketed by McDonnell Douglas as the MD-95, a third-generation derivative of the DC-9.

The first order was placed in October 1995; however, McDonnell Douglas and Boeing merged in 1997 prior to production. The first planes entered service in 1999 as the Boeing 717. Production ceased in May 2006 after 156 airplanes were producedAs of December 2007, a total of 150 Boeing 717-200 airplanes are in airline service with:

    AirTran Airways

    Midwest Airlines

    Hawaiian Airlines

    QantasLink

    Turkmenistan Airlines

    Aerolíneas de Baleares

    Bangkok Airways
