Question:

Is the Brisbane River the only river in the world without a distinctive name.?

All other rivers seem to be called something other than just the name of the town they run through.

Any suggestions for a name for this splendid waterway?

  2. i, personaly would would like to see it called Maud, after my old and long deceased aunty. i think The River Maud has a nice ring to it, don't you?......and the family would be SO pleased.....we've never been famous  for ANYTHING....( well, admittedly there was that time uncle harry got caught down at the valley by the vice squad....but, i suppose that was more the IN-famous than the famous, but it was in ALL the papers, you know.....).....oh, well, i suppose every family has it's black-sheep............

  6. It was one of the most polluted rivers in oz, its been cleaned up now, it is called the yarra if my memory serves me

    Thomas Brisbane by the explorer John Oxley in  1823  it's length is 344 km  it begins in the Conondale Range east of Kingaroy and it's mouth is at Moreton Bay  it is dammed by the Wivenhoe Dam which is one of the water supplies for Brisbane and the Lockyer  Valley
