Is the Buell Blast a good starter motorcycle?

If not, what would you recommend? I am leaning more towards a sport bike or standard motorcycle, not so much of the cruiser style. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Not for me. It's underpowered, too small, and poorly built. Go with a 500 - 650 cc j*p bike.

  2. Well, the Rider's Edge courses are taught on Buells, so someone likes to teach on them.

  3. I hate to bad mouth a motorcycle but the buell blast has a long list of problems.

  4. The Blast is a good bike overall, not just a good starter.  If you decide on it, start with the 500...then trade it in for the 883 motor.

Nobody can really recommend a bike for you, you have to get out and sit on a few and test ride a few.

I highly recommend that you take a learners course, if you have not already done so.  It will also help to lower your insurance costs.

  5. I personally think you could find a better bike for the money, but that is just my gut instinct. I have never ridden a Blast or know anyone that does. I have read a review that wasn't terrible, but they certainly didn't rave about the bike. I also see very few on the road or even at the dealers. As much as I recommend the SV650 you would think I invented it or something, but I just think it is a great bike.

  6. never rode one it is intended as an entry level bike though. test ride one and decide for yourself.
