Is the Canon G9 worth the money?

Question

my 16th birthdays coming up, and i think thats what i want.

i know very little about cameras but am very much in love with photography.

if u have the camera, or even if you dont, could someone maybe post the pictures that they've taken with the G9 or a link or something that i could review the quality of the photos it takes?

I don't own the Canon G9, but after a bit of research I'd say that it does seem worth buying, although make sure you look everywhere you can for the cheapest deal. I have an 8 megapixel camera, and that does the job very well, I love it, so I know if I had a 12.1 megapixel camera (which the Canon G9 has, as you already probably know) I'd never put it down. Personally I think the Canon G9 is over priced. You are paying lots of extra money for megapixels. I'd go for the Canon A720 IS. 8 megapixels, vs 12 MP for the G9.

Although you can take better photos in low light with the G9, is the G9 worth almost $280- more? I think not. Both cameras are 6X optical zoom, 2 seconds or less for next shot delay, each has an image stabilizer and both have aperture/shutter priority.
