Question:

Is the Cap strap on Burton bindings comfortable and needed?

I want to get either the Burton mission or Burton Freestyle.

Missions have the cap strap and freestyles don't.

I know Missions have more response. I just want to know if the cap strap is comfortable.

  1. i really  like the cap straps. the response is better in my opinion and i think they're really comfy too. but that's just my opinion.

  2. Capstraps are fairly comfortable, but whether to get one or not does depend on your type of riding to an extent.

Try on the bindings either by rent or just in the store with your boots. I've ridden Missions before but have decided to go with a Rome binding because of various reasons, including the fact that I didn't really want a capstrap. They're not neccesarry, but if you think it's comfortable then go for it. They were more of a scheme to bring out something new--you don't need more support pushing on your toes, in a way it kind of restricts your ability to carve with ease.

If you're worried about them, do what you can to try them out before you buy.

  3. Don't listen to the Burton haters dude. The cap strap that Burton came up with is the best by far, i have tried bindings from Rome, k2, ride. They all blow compared to Burton bindings> DO NOT GET THE FREESTYLES. They are JUNK   Get the customs Missions or Cartels. They are all awesome bindings and the cap strap give you a super responsive binding. There are other companies that copied Burton's toe cap but nobodies are as good as Bur tons. I own a pair of 08 cartels and they are the most comfortable, most responsive bindings I have ever used and they have definitely helped me step up my riding and take it to the next level>  Once you feel the Burton toe cap, you will never want to rock another pair of bindings.

  4. Why are you so dead set on Burtons?  There are dozens of other companies that make as good if not better products.

The cap strap is a preference thing.  My (Drake) bindings have a toe strap that can be moved to a cap position and I don't find it to be any better or worse than the traditional position, so I just stick with that.

  5. First off i have missions and there are good. I did break that capstrap off but it was partially my fault. before that though, it gave me so much more control, i thought, with my riding and jibbing abilty. My foot always slipped with just regular straps. BUT technine has bindings with cap straps and there are amazing. way better then burton
