Truzzi was skeptical of investigators and debunkers who determined the validity of a claim prior to investigation. He accused CSICOP of increasingly unscientific behavior, for which he coined the term pseudoskepticism. Truzzi stated,

"They tend to block honest inquiry, in my opinion. Most of them are not agnostic toward claims of the paranormal; they are out to knock them. [...] When an experiment of the paranormal meets their requirements, then they move the goal posts. Then, if the experiment is reputable, they say it's a mere anomaly."

Also, the CSI does not conduct or support any research.

  1. CSICOP is now called the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. It  is a large and disparate organization. On the whole they do a good job with their magazine and conferences at educating and dispelling myths and nonsense. It is true that they are skeptical of all paranormal claims. They adhere to the belief that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". They have many noted scientists on their board and as fellows. They do not support research with grants, etc. but they do investigate paranormal claims. To accuse them of "moving the goalposts" is just sour grapes. The break between Truzzi and CSICOP is VERY old news - it happened in the early 70's.

  2. Yes and no. "Science organization" is vague. Yes the CSICOP is concerned with valid science. No, they are not an organization sponsoring scientific research.

  3. No.

Generally they are atheists. and want to debunk ANYTHING spiritual.
