I am looking to work as a teacher assistant part time but have never worked at a montessori school before. I had wanted some information before I go for the interview. Thank you.

  1. I recommend you research what the Montessori classroom is like so you have an idea of what you're getting into. Croton kids are majority white and well off so you won't have much diversity in the classroom.

  2. I am not sure of that specific school.  My friend, Melissa, did a fantastic blog about working in a Montessori school and I gave a reply that provided a little more information and important information about the role of an assistant in many Montessori classrooms.  You can see the blog here:

    I would start there.

The next thing I would do is learn more about Montessori.  A good place to start is youtube.com  Type in Montessori in the search engine and you will see some great introductions as well as great videos on the schools in action.  There are a few bad videos, but people were quick to jump on those and comment on them.

I would also read this forum on mothering.com:

The sticky subjects provide some great information.

I hope this helps.  Final thing I suggest is to look at my blog.

Also take a look at Lysa's Montessori information page.  It's still in progress:

Happy hunting and good luck at the job interview.

  3. Try to Google Dr. maria montessori. I liked the school I only had 2 problems with the curiiculum at this particular school.

Good luck..be energetic and have FUN!!!
