Is the DTV Transition a scam?

Question

...to force everyone to get cable and satelite TV, and buy new TVs? I think it is. I got one of those digital converter boxes for my analog TV, and it picks up all the channels except my local ABC affiliate. I have tried a couple of different antennas, but they don't seem to help either. Now I will be forced to get cable if I want to see my local ABC station. Thanks for looking out for me, congress!

No, it's not a scam. ABC just have not yet transitioned over to digital. They are not required to do so until next year. The reason for anolog to digital is because this frees up the analog spectrum for other uses outside of television use. It could be used for emergency radio services, increased cellular services like video, and many other uses.
