Is the Denon 1609 a good reciever?

  1. It's okay if you want a very affordable entry-level receiver. But it's really low-end so don't expect too much from it. I recommend buying from Amazon, you can usually save a few hundred bucks. I also recommend looking at some of the Onkyo receivers. I got my Onkyo 606 off Amazon for $400 and it retails for $500-$600. Plus it can do WAY more than the denon. You can usually get a little more for your money with Onkyo, but both are very good brands. But like I said, if you want a very basic, entry-level avr, then the 1609 should be fine for you. But if you save up another $150 or so, you can get MUCH more for your money.
