I am looking at the Dr. Popper jump cue by McDermott and I am wondering if you are allowed to use such a thing in tournaments and sanctioned competitions such as those by APA and Pro

  1. If you are going to get a jump cue look into jumpin James, jacoby or lucasi actually makes a pretty good jump cue.  I'd widdle my own cue from a dead tree branch before I bought a product made by McDermott.

  2. I will repeat that Kracker is literally the only person I've ever heard say a bad word about McDermott products.

And djkx1 is correct, you cannot use any jump cues in the APA, but any league or tournament that allows jump cues should allow them. If you want to jump in the APA and cannot do it with your playing cue, look into getting a jump/break cue. They are legal to use as long as you do not remove the bottom section of the cue when jumping. Make sure you can jump with one before you buy though.

  3. im personally happy to hear APA doesnt allow jump cue!  they take away from the skill achieved, by players who are great jumpers with their playing cue. and anyone can get the ball up and down very fast with a great jump cue, yet taking away great safties.  i love it when earl told someone to be a man, when his opponite came back to his seat to retrieve his jump cue:) and the guy didnt use it, and couldn't jump it with his playing cue, and earl won the rack:)  if your gonna use 1 though, look at youtube type best jump cue ever.  i talked to that guy who makes them, alot last month. told him my feelings on the jump cue, but told him, he has probablly got the best 1 invented yet! $100 i think 4 it.

  4. The Brand name dosn't matter as for the pros they cant even have the same rule on that some do  some dont

APA or other leagues no clue

  5. It is my understanding that the APA doesnt allow jump cues in their league. I'm quite certain that any organization allowing jump cues would also allow this particular one. The best way to know for sure is to contact any your league operator, or tournament director to ask what they allow.
