  1. NO. I knew this one midget that played for another school(I play golf for my school), and his putter was longer than his driver.

  2. That's why it's called the driver.  it's what you use to drive the ball the longest off the tee.

  3. In terms of hitting the ball the far, your driver will be the one with the most power (assuming you're hitting off the tee box).  Though if it's your grandfather's club, it's probably way behind on the technology curve.  Many hybrids and probably even a few irons with today's technology might go farther than an old driver.

In terms of actual club length, the driver is usually longest - except for those newer confounded chin-putters.

  4. yup, and thats what generally makes it the hardest to hit.

  5. Yes.  45" is the standard length that many manufacturers follow.

Recently, with lighter shaft and bigger club head, some companies (e.g. Nike, TaylorMade) have lengthened the stock driver length (e.g. Nike Sumo 45.75", TaylorMade Burner 46").

They claim their drivers add 10 more yards....which is true, but they don't normally mention the fact that they've also increased the shaft by almost an inch.  The longer the shaft, the further the ball will fly, but the harder to make solid contact.

Gotta love their marketing department!!  :-)

  6. if you use long putter ,answer would be no . long putters run 48 to 52 inches in length . newer drivers have a 46 inch shaft. if you have regulsr length putter . driver is longest . thanks

  7. Actually the longest clubs in golf are putters. They can be 4-5 feet long. 46 inches on drivers though.

  8. Ya
