Question:

Is the EPA doing a good job in protecting the environment?

I have to do a paper about the Environmental Protection Agency, and whether or not they're doing their job. I want to be con EPA just because it sounds more interesting (in my class's opinion at least; I asked them). The thing is, I can't find any complaints against the EPA to support my con EPA thesis. So I ask you Yahoo answers: Is the EPA doing their job? If they are, should I just be pro-EPA, despite the fact that it'll be most likely unbearably boring? And if you think they aren't doing their job, please give an good explanation why.

  1. Under the Bush Administration the US EPA has absolutely not done a good job in protecting the environment.

For one, the US Supreme Court had to force them to start regulating greenhouse gas emissions.  Research Massachusetts vs. the EPA:

On top of that, California is trying to put stricter regulations on our state's greenhouse gas emissions than the federal regulations, and the EPA won't let us.

The US EPA is doing an absolutely terrible job protecting the environment.

  2. They're doing too good a job.

I've had to increase my cigarette smoking to 7 packs a day, just to pick up the slack in the depleading smog levels.

Good thing for me, that 2nd hand smoke is the one that kills.

  3. The EPA cares more about taxes and useless regulations than helping the environment. Did you know that it is legal to burn motor oil mixed with diesel fuel to heat crops at night, but illegal to use clean vegetable oil as fuel in a diesel engine because it isn't an EPA approved fuel?

  4. With any govement job they need move people out there and less bosses in the office

  5. no
