  1. No. The moons are Moons in astrology. Not planets.

  2. I don't know, let me check the alignment of the stars.

  3. The astrological description of "planet" is a heavenly body that is not stationary. In other words, if something in the observable heavens MOVES in relation to everything else in the heavens, it is an astrological "planet."

The Moon is THE MOST personal and important planet in Vedic Astrology. The two luminous "planets" (Sun and Moon) represent out inner (moon) and outer (sun) selves. The third planet that represents the self in a horoscope is whatever planet rules the sign in the first house.

The reason Moon rules Cancer is because the Moon's natural domain is females & motherhood, liquids, emotions and constant growth and change. The sign of Cancer is a feminine water sign of emotional growth and change, and is the domain of motherhood.

  4. We know it isn't a planet, technically... but "planet" is the general term used in astrology... after all the Sun isn't a planet either, but we call it one in astrology... it's just a term of convenience... instead of saying "well, your planets, including the sun and the moon..." every time we speak...

The moon represents our emotions, our inner self, our mother and our home... and Cancer is about emotions, home, Mom, patriotism... they are similar... so the moon "rules" Cancer...

All ruling planets are closely associated to the signs they rule by being similar in effect and meaning...

  5. Though the Earth's Moon is more of an asteroid then a planet, it is considered to be on of the most personal planets in astrology.  The three most important points in an astrological chart are the placement of the Sun and Moon and the Ascendant. The Ascendant is calculated utilizing the Day, Time and Place of an event such as a birth.

  6. Actually, the sun and moon are called "luminaries" in astrology. Referring to the sun and moon as planets is actually using incorrect terminology.

The sun and moon are not considered to be the ruling "planets" of Leo and Cancer, they are just considered to be the "rulers"....nothing to do with planets.

  7. no....neither are the moons of venus or saturn
