  1. Best question of all time.

  2. Yes

  3. In a way, yes. Have you ever heard of the burning core at the center.

    Ex:

    Weather

    Plant Growth

    ..There are more...

    Many people have different opinions.

  4. Yes.  It's name is Shirley.

  5. It is only in the sense that we believe we are.

  6. Yes, the Earth is alive. Latest research suggests that there is a "Deep Hot Biosphere" of bacteria and archea living underground, they eat methane, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Their maybe an equal weight of life living underground as above ground. Bacteria & archea can survive 110-120 degrees Celsius up to 10 km underground (a verdant tropical rain forest is only 50 meters thick). The outer 10 km of the Earth is alive.

  7. yes.

and according to the bible it groans.

  8. Must be it' s moving all the time

  9. The answer to this question depends on your point of view.

    My opinion is YES.

The answer would be NO if you looked at a strict biological definition for life.

Check out the Gaia Hypothesis.  The Gaia Hypothesis views the Earth as a single organism.

"The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological hypothesis that proposes that the biosphere and the physical components of the Earth (atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere) are coupled together to form a complex interacting system. This system is proposed to act in a homeostatic fashion that preserves climatic and biogeochemical conditions on Earth that are suitable for living organisms. Named after the Greek Titan of the earth, the hypothesis is frequently described as viewing the Earth as a single organism."  from Wikipedia.

Go to Wikipedia and search out the Gaia Hypothesis.  Lots of good background information.

  10. Does the Earth Breathe? Does the Earth drink water? The answer would be no to both of those questions. The Earth sustains life on it and many plants and animals live on it and do breathe and drink water. Although the Earth may rotate and revolve around the sun. It has a gravity attraction to the sun and it rotates. Earth is just like a rock and mass. Rocks don't breathe right?

  11. There are several characteristics that define life.

    1. Regulation of the internal environment to maintain a constant state; for example, sweating to reduce temperature. Earth can be thought of as a self regulating entity, but its not something done out of instinct or for survival.

    2. Organization: Being composed of one or more cells, which are the basic units of life. Earth is not composed of cells.

    3. Metabolism: Consumption of energy by converting nonliving material into cellular components (anabolism) and decomposing organic matter (catabolism). The Earth does not consume anything for energy.

    4. Growth: Maintenance of a higher rate of synthesis than catalysis. A growing organism increases in size in all of its parts, rather than simply accumulating matter. The Earth does not grow. It accumulates matter.

    5. Adaptation: The ability to change over a period of time in response to the environment. The Earth does not do this on its own. It is facilitated by its inhabitants.

    6. Response to stimuli: A response can take many forms, from the contraction of a unicellular organism when touched to complex reactions involving all the senses of higher animals. The Earth has no nervous system. It cannot respond to stimuli.

    7. Reproduction: The ability to produce new organisms. The Earth cannot reproduce.

So, the Earth as a planet is not alive. The copious amounts of things on Earth that are alive, however, give the impression of a living planet.

  12. not unless your dead

  13. yes because it revovles around the sun  its like walking.
