Is the Epiphone Les Paul Studio a good guitar for a small gig?

Absolutely.  It's one of the classic little workhorse guitars, like the Squire Strat.

If you dig the Les Paul, try a Fender Jaguar some time.  You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah it does, although your amp also has an effect on it. When you're on stage try doing sound checks so that you could hear the overall sound and you'll be able to fix it to suit the place.
