Question:

Is the Flowbee a money-saver for parents?

I've got two boys, a 5-year old and a 4-year old. Haircuts for both run me $25-$35, not including tips.

The Flowbee is listed for $69.95 on their web site; about $83, including shipping via UPS.

A co-worker of mine uses a Flowbee (has for years) and swears by it. I went online to learn more about it but there's twice as many web sites kidding about the device as there are sites with detailed reviews.

What have you heard about the Flowbee or, better yet, what's your personal experience using on yourself and your kids?

  1. Get clippers or a hair razor that you can adjust the length, if you want your sons to have short hair.

    I really wouldn't get a flowbee. I wouldn't trust it.

I wouldn't bother with salons, either. They just make a mess of everyone hair.

  2. My stepsons HATED me for even SUGGESTING IT.  I let their mother take care of haircuts.

  3. They still make those things? I used to be terrified of it. My grandma has one and uses it... That is just crazy.... I just use good old fashion clippers... you can get a good set for about the same price and don't have to tramatize your kids.

  4. Why not just buy some Wahl clippers? 3/8 on the sides and 1/2 on the top.  Perfect!

  5. My husband uses it and will ONLY use it and not go to a barber or whatever. He swears by it! And his hair turns out just fine, we only use one length tho but you can do different styles with it. I think if you just want basic cut that aren't terrible extravegant than yes it would save LOTS of money! And they are not scary, its just a stereotype!

  6. I agree that normal clippers are a much better deal.  You can get a set for about $20 at Walmart and cut their hair in the same way a salon would.  It might take two or three cuts to get the hang of it, but they're kids, so it'll be fine.

  7. For young children this is a great way to save some money. Until your boys get to be teenagers, you don't need to spend a lot of money on styling haircuts.

Pick up a $20 Wahl trimmer to go along with the Flowbee. That way you can clip along their ears and neck line.

  8. my mom used this dang thing on me, i hated it, it would pull and tug on my hair, plus is really never gave a good cut.  Not to be rude but that what they have borics for, $9 hair cuts.  I would suggest not getting it.
