  1. The G3's .308/7.62x 51mm cartridge is pretty powerful and I believe that with the right shot placement it will take down a grizzly bear, I would use full metal jacket ammo to ensure higher penetration on a bear.

  2. yes i thing it is weak

  3. The G3 is a 308 or 7.62x51 cartridge. The 308 will kill the a big bear but it may not be a one shot stop (at least immediately). By military version do you mean full automatic? No that's illegal to hunt with.

You need a bigger gun to stop a big bear in one shot. A Remington 700 BGS Big Game Synthetic in 416 Rem Mag. It shoots a 400 grain bullet with 5,000 foot pounds of muzzle energy. I have one on the shelf with a Vais muzzle break (feels like a 30-06) and Ashley Ghost Ring sights. It's only 7 1/2 pounds, easy to carry, fast to operate and a thump a bear can't stand up to.

  4. Far from it. .308 hits pretty hard. That being said I don't know if that would be what I would choose for taking a Grizzly bear. I think a big game rifle in .338 Lapua or something would be more appropriate.

The military version of the G3 is selective fire meaning it can fire more than one round per pull of the trigger when set to automatic. This has no bearing whatsover on the power of the individual bullets.

I think a .308 on full auto would be hard to control on full auto anyhow so rounds that go up in te sky over the bear's head aren't gonna do you any good.
