  1. To be specific like with the grandma acting all young on the show and random family members showing up to their house sort of does reflect a typical day in a hispanic household. But some things are a bit overdone for entertainment purposes.

  2. Its a funny sitcom we love it and we are hispanic but like someone mentioned before it is intended to make you laugh so you can't go on what you see but I definetly can relate to some of his stand up comedy. Like when he talks about his grandma and how he grew up with his friends. We actually go around the house saying things we here on his show though, like "so that way you learn" and "right now right now or later later ?" lol

  3. Seeing as how George Lopez is from Southern California i would say that the show mirrors more of the Southern California Mexican American Culture. As a Mexican American not from SoCal i would say i can relate to SOME of the things that are said and happen in the show. Mexican Americans are quite different depending on where they live in the U.S.

  4. idk strictly bout mexican, but latin culture would say yes and no. no because it is very rare to disrespect ur family, especially ur parents, the way u see in the show. i guess thats the american side of it tho

  5. I think it's a family sitcom first and foremost with some elements of Mexican American culture. It's sad that a sitcom is the closest thing to an accurate depiction of Mexican American families though. Most Mexican Americans arent all that different than let's say an Italian American or Irish American family. We may have different food or other cultural influences but we're most influenced by our American culture especially second and third generation Mexican Americans.

  6. I'm gonna have to say no. It's a comedy show. Things are exaggerated in order to get laughs. But it is pretty funny.

  7. h**l no.

They don't all work menial jobs and have grandma walking in at random times of the day.

I'm sure there are a few stereotypical families but the the ones I've met are pretty Americanised.

  8. Not at all, it is unfunny and low-brow; entirely too ghetto.  Portrays Mex-Ams as stupid and helpless rather than old-line California or Southwestern state Americans as established co-workers and peers.

  9. yea its a good show for mexicans and amiricans espeacialy ones with indian in them

  10. Prolly not but it's hilarious.

  11. It's a good show but I don't think it mirrors all of Mexican American culture just like shows such as Fresh Prince don't mirror all of African American culture. It's just some people's perspectives. I think tv just wants to show us diversity by having many shows with a mix of cultures.
