  1. If you come from a language with minimal inflections like Spanish or English, then yes it can be very hard, because German nouns and pronouns and adjectives inflect for case, number and gender.

However, some languages, like Russian and Icelandic, have even MORE inflections, so for them it's probably easier.

However, if you get to live in Germany or Austria, or have a lot of access to German speakers where you live, then it's not that hard, because you are learning it in a practical situation. It's very hard to learn a language in isolation and without comprehensible input.

  2. When you speak English and spanish, it makes it easier, because the german tounge is based on english on spanish ,such as Auto(car)auto is in german, english, spanish.

ia m an ethnic german, so i'm learning, and its hard to type here in florida because they are more such a sthe a,o,us with the dots ontop, and the B thing, whisch used.prounoucned as double ss.

heiBe , prounounced hei-sse, meanig hot, writeten with the german B- looking thing.

  3. English is based on the German language, so many of the words are easy to remember, as you probably already know.

German follows a much more strict writing structure than English, so it takes a little bit to write properly, but once you know some of it, it's fairly easy to apply what you've learned to new situations.

I found German very easy to learn.

  4. reading and writing as itself won't be to hard , you can learn, but learning the proper grammar, is really really hard, believe me! even the germans struggle with it!

  5. I find German easy to read. I have never been able to write in a language I can't speak. The thing that has made it impossible for me to speak German is lack of opportunity to practice. I have found Germans to be as bad as the French for their linguistic prudery. It is impossible to progress without practice and even when I lived in Germany for 2 1/2 years, I never found enough opportunity to practice to get past the beginner stages.
