  1. The 'world' does not regard Global Warming as a 'fad'.  I don't know what doomsday predictions you are thinking of.  But there are now communities in the world who used to be able to feed themselves and no longer can because of climate change.  The scientific panel formed to study why the climate is changing say that it is most likely to be happening because of global warming.

  2. We are threatening the life of all ecosystems on earth even without global warming.  In fact, the global warming debate has become a distraction form the real question of whether man is going to wake up and protect the earth which supports all life, including humans.

Our oceans ecosystems are close to collapsing.

That one thing alone could doom man.  That is a fact.  I'm not referring to global warming, just loss of habitat, pollution, overfishing etc.  The ocean  is critical to all life on earth.

Non environmentalists don't seem to get the simple concept that all life is interwoven and entirely interdependent.  Species do not exitist or survive outside of healthy ecosystems of which they are intergral parts.

We are part of the ecosystem.

A tiny organism like an algae which lives in the sea and is at the bottom of the food chain has enormous effects on the health of the ocean and can even effect weather.

And we are poisoning these algae for one thing with billions upon billions of tiny particles of petroleum based plastics which are being inadvertently injested by these filter feeding micro organisms.

90% of food fish stocks worldwide are gone.

The coral reefs which are particularly essential for the health of the oceans are in severe danger from activities of humans.

I've just barely touched upon the harm being done to the oceans.  Jacques Cousteau, the famous ocean researcher, said back in the 70s that in 20 years the oceans would be dead if we didn't do things differently.  His estimate was maybe a little premature, but not by much.

And what does the oil  and oil industry, that George Bush and the majority of Republicans want to protect the interests of cost us?

Since conservative aren't usually environmentalists and usually only respond when something might cost them $$ , they might want to reacess their priorities.  Here's the cost of oil dependency.

    Check this out.

From a 1996 article by Jenny B. Wahl

Based on the studies reviewed, our best-guess estimate of the subsidies received

by petroleum each year is $84 billion per year

US Defense Department spending allocated to safeguard the worlds’ petroleum resources total some $55 to $96.3 billion per year.

When the price of gasoline is so drastically underestimated in the minds of drivers, it

becomes difficult if not impossible to convince them to change their driving habits, accept alternative fuel vehicles, or consider progressive residential and urban development strategies

while the amount of damage that automobile fumes cause is certainly very high, the total dollar value is rather difficult to quantify. Approximately $39 billion per year is the lowest minimum estimate reckoned by researchers in

the field of transportation cost analysis, although the actual total is surely much higher and may exceed $600 billion

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve, a federal government entity designed to supplement

regular oil supplies in the event of disruptions due to military conflict or natural disaster, costs taxpayers an additional $5.7 billion per year.

When you consider that researchers have

conclusively linked auto pollution to increased health problems and mortality, the CTA report’s estimate of $29.3 to $542.4 billion for the annual uncompensated health costs associated with auto emissions may not adequately reflect the value of lost or diminished human life. Other costs associated with localized air pollution

attributable to gasoline-powered automobiles include decreased agricultural yields ($2.1 to $4.2 billion), reduced visibility ($6.1 to $44.5 billion), and damage to buildings and materials ($1.2 to $9.6 billion). Global warming ($3 to $27.5 billion), water pollution ($8.4 to $36.8 billion), noise pollution ($6 to $12 billion),

According to estimates by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), federal

corporate income tax credits and deductions result in an effective income tax rate of 11 percent for the oil industry as compared to a non-oil industry average of 18 percent

The average effective tax rate on integrated

oil operations has fallen from 21.5 percent in

the early 1980s to only 8.7 percent in the 1990s (both figures are significantly below the statutory rate of 35

This is what Bush and the oil lobby wants you to keep buying into.  Who is scamming Who?

  3. I hope so because that is what global warming is with politics an taxes included.

  4. No.  It's just less controversial because intelligent opposition to the phenomenon is disappearing as it becomes apparent that it is real.

    .

  5. Hope so.  I'm glad there were enough honest people to stand up against this scam.  Imagine where we would have been if there wasn't a stand against "the debate is over" thugs.

There's only a little time left before the "man made" theory is cracked and we give more credit to the warmth of the Sun as the cause.

  6. You betcha. Didn't you notice the Democrats have even stopped hollering about it?

... and they're already rolling out the "Next Ice Age" talk ... it all keeps going around.

Oh ... and to the spammer, Agua-Luna (sorry Sappy) ... If you are using a computer you are leaving a carbon footprint. The InterNet and the proliferation of computers would not be possible without a tremendous expenditure of energy and oodles of petrochemicals.

... and if there are nickel batteries in any of your equipment then you need to re-think your "green-ness" ...

Get a clue, folks. EVERYTHING we have today requires some manner of carbon footprint. Last time I checked we exhaled. ... and even if you're done exhaling you're decomposing body ...

Climate change is real. Man-made global warming is a myth.

  7. I guess this means we can start going south for the winter again?
