If the Governor General is considered the head of state of Canada, why is the Queen's picture on our money and stamps and not the current GG?

  1. The governor general is basically a figure head and the queen is a symbol. Or vise verse.

The governor general used to be the go between for us and the queen.

Now he's about as useless as the Canadian senate.

The prime minister, with a majority party, is supreme dictator until he is voted out.

  2. The G-G is the vice-regal, or deputy head of state. The Queen is your head of state...for some odd reason.

  3. The true head of state is the Queen, the GG is the Queen's representative in Canada.
