  1. The Grand National Steeplechase has always enjoyed an element of notoriety.

It is a tough race, with casualties being the result of poor riding by jockeys.  It is the most famous horse race in the world, and I think that those who grumble are only jealous that Liverpool is the focal point of the nation for the day.

I blame the namby pamby woolly minded south of Watford Gap brigade for the adverse publicity - these are the same bunch who wanted fox-hunting banned.  Political correctness and the people who uphold it are the only species worthy of annihilation.

  2. My answer is: Both

The risks HAVE been reduced but frankly I feel they are still too great.

The horses are treated cruelly and the risk of injury is way too high

  3. reduced the risks

  4. the fences are 100 times easier on the hose than they used to be
