Is the HDMI source same as the coaxial source?

I have a Samsung LN32R81B LCD TV and I'm thinking of buying a HDMI cable for my cable box to replace my coaxial one; but will I have to put my TV in Video 1 or Video 2 to see it, or will I be able to see it in the normal TV mode? My main concern is being able to use SAP, because I bought some new TV/Video cables and connected them with the cable box and into the Video 1 source of the TV and I'm not able to use SAP due to this. Is the any other way I can connect them to be able to see it in the normal TV source mode or is there something else I have to do?

  1. The only way you will get SAP if you use the HDMI cable is if the cable box will decode it. Check the cable box manual or menus and look for SAP. If the box has the capability, then you will get SAP with the HDMI cable.
