Question:

Is the HIGH COST of GASOLINE making you drive your car/truck/SUV/Hummer Less Often?

I keep hearing of how men who drive Hummers are now complaining about how the high cost of gas is driving them to the POOR-HOUSE.

(I drive a fuel efficient car, so I couldn't care less),

But I was wondering:

1) - Do you find yourself driving less because of the rising cost of fuel ??

2) - If you plan on buying another car soon, do you now think about its fuel efficiency rather than thinking of it as a personal Fashion-Statement ??

  1. i drive a pick up truck and get 17 to 20 mpg..i need the 4x4.to haul hay/gravel and feed....i try to drive a little less...but not a lot less

  2. I drive the same amount as always, I think.  I drive a Honda Accord, and I was thinking about getting a Honda Element, but not now.  I'll keep looking for something at least as fuel efficient as my Accord.

  3. If they are driving to the poor-house they should have thought a little more before they bought the thing.  I drive a full size truck (Dodge ram W/Hemi) and a full size conversion van, neither get great mileage but I was aware of the gas prices  when I bought them and I really didn't  care.  If that is what I have to pay to drive the vehicles I like then that is just the way it is. It is not like the price just went up.  Don't complain if you buy the gas guzzler.

  4. Hummers are big ugly wastes of space and money. Fuel inefficient or not.

  5. 1) - We are driving less because of the high cost of fuel. We are considering changing our vacation plans because of the fuel costs.

    2) - At present we are not considering another vehicle. When the time comes we will look at fuel efficient / hybrids style and fashion notwithstanding.

  6. $10,000 more for a Hybrid, and the batteries cost $9000 to replace!  I wounder what a used 5 are 6 year old would be worth? thinking that you might need to replace the batteries soon.

  7. My summer car is a 1971 Chevelle with a 540 cubic inch motor. with no sky cap on fuel and me getting 2-3 mpg, I'm not going very far with that gas hog.

I would rather have a '03 or an '04 Subaru STi (Turbo'd boxer 4 - AWD) gets better gas milage and can drive it more.

  8. i try to drive my car at a lower speed now to keep fuel usage down i used to drive at a 100ks an hour to work, now keep it down to 80ks, and try not to go to shops ect as much

i drive a 6 cylinder Commadore  wagon so its uses a lot of fuel my friend he quite often rides a bike during the week to my home and around to save on fuel and try and lose some weight, i also keep an eye on fuel prices and fill when the price goes down at the moment they have been high for easter time

  9. As I have stated many times before on this site, I quit worrying about gas prices when the price went over 40-some cents a gallon.

I drive my motorhome getting 10-12 MPG without a second thought. I've worked all my life waiting for the opportunity to do it, and I'm not altering my plans based on some phony "global warming" theory, which MANY prominent scientists do not think is anything more than a normal temp adjustment.

  10. Despite if you drive a fuel efficient car or another vehicle, the cost of gas will effect you.

When gas has doubled and you spend $50-$100 to fill your tank vs $25-$50 that will effect most people especially those who don't make as much.

I believe the cost of gas is really starting to hit the middle and upper middle-class now. As for the them  they will need to cut back on $6 coffees and golf. The poor will need to cut back on food and essentials.

A family will also be effected allot because they are stretched thinner and it will make it harder to make ends meet.

The cost of goods and food is also going up along with gas because of the fuel prices. If you don't notice it its because you don't track your money well enough.

As for my next car i plan to get the wife a new camaro and I want the 08 vette. I will buy these in the next copuple years.
