  1. we get old and die because our organs slowly deteriorate. Brutal.

  2. no, that's why we die (of old age, sickness, etc)

  3. No

  4. No its never been done and probably never will.

  5. What kind of sh.. question. No the answer is no

  6. There's a lot of components to aging. We've got a general idea - DNA damage, mitochondrial damage, telomere degeneration, death of certain non replaceable cells, accumulation of certain damaging materials. Basically the human body evolved to last about 30-40 years, everything past that is basic frosting. For the bulk of human history the life expectancy has hovered around 20-25 years. It's only in last hundred years or so that it's been at all common for people to live so long.

    Thank you penicillin.

EDIT: Cells can't be replaced indefinitely. Cells in the brain and spinal cord can't be replaced at all. Amyloid plaque can't be cleared faster than it builds up, and DNA in the mitochondria can't be repaired by any mechanism.

  7. From a biblical perspective in Genesis God communes with Adam and Eve in the Garden and the only tree they could not eat from was the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.  God I believe created man to have company, as well as for other purposes...We each as individuals have a purpose on earth or we would not be here....Part of us our soul is eternal and lives on after our physical body stops functioning....so that part of us, the soul of each living being is eternal and remains to continue on with a new purpose.  The human body was not intended to exist forever.  When Eve and Adam ate from the tree causing sin or disregard for God's command that changed many things for humans.  The human body is created and develops and exists and it does change and loses its vitality as we age and do not function as well.  Biblically the man who lived the longest is Methuselah he lived 969 years according to the Bible.  That is hard to imagine yet in that time there was not the pollution and erosion of the earth as today so people lived longer....As a result of this knowledge we are to appreciate and value each day we have on earth and always seek to discover our purpose to accomplish it....

  8. Why would we?? We are animals just like dogs cats chimps etc. They all die. Of course we will too. Anything that has life will die,

  9. Once you are past reproduction age, nature has no purpose for the individual; that is the way the system goes. Old models leaving room for the new, improved and more evolved individuals.

Accordingly, the DNA correction mechanism that prevents aging is weak. We have good scientists working on it, since evolution is not a game we're willing to play anymore.

There are actually several reasons for cellular degenerescence, do a Google check on "telomere".

Addressing those, through techniques like stem cells research, will most likely bring huge life expectancy improvements.
