Is the I.Q. of 122 good for a 12 year old?

My cousin just took an I.Q. test and that was his score... He just wants to know if thats average above average or below average?

On the vast majority of standardized IQ tests, the average score is 100, with a standard deviation of 15 or 16 points.  So he'd be a little less than 1.5 standard deviations above the average score.

Age is irrellevant because the tests are structured to take that into account.  Average is supposed to be anywhere from 80 to 120.  So I guess he is slightly above average.  However the credibility of these tests has been in question for years, regarding issues of race and s*x and society bias.

above average....gifted is generally considered at least 130....average is 100
