  1. yes, i think it was a good trade. the yankees need a new catcher since posada is having surgery and it will give molina a break. i think pudge will do great. he has a pretty good arm and gets more hits than molina. it should please most yankee fans, especially if the red sox trade manny. so they might have a better chance of winning the al east. with pudge gone, i think the tigers will struggle a little bit. but that is good if you are a twins fan because you won't have to worry as much about the tigers catching up to you.

  2. absolutely, kyle farnsworth sucked and i-rod will fill the catcher spot very nicely and give molina a break. He is a very good hitter and has a cannon behind the plate.  A VERY GOOD THING!!! LETS HOPE THE RED SOX GET RID OF MANNY NOW SO WE CAN WIN THE AL EAST!!!!!!!

  3. I'd say it is only descent because Pudge is past his prime, and it will cost the Yankees some cash they could use to resign Mussina or Giambi. Jose Molina has actually thrown out more runners than Pudge, but it was meant for an offensive upgrade.

Detroit got the better deal in Farnsworth. He has already played in Detroit, and they need bullpen help badly.

With the acquisition of Xavier Nady, I don't think Pudge will help their offense that much. Bad deal for Yanks, good for Pudge, because he wanted out of Detroit. Brandon Inge will take over as the every day catcher for Detroit.

  4. I think so.  He is still a good catcher, and can hit more than Molina.  As for Farnsworth.  He is having a good year, but I would never trust him in a big spot.

  5. It's Ok But We Need Pitching, And Trading Farnsworth Wasn't A Great Idea.

  6. Without a doubt:

this Red Sox fan is seriously dismayed by this one.  Pudge still has what it takes to be a great catcher; its not about the hitting, its about calling  a game, throwing out runners and keeping control.  The Yankees totally got away with one this time.....

  7. Unfortunately... yes. It filled their void behind the plate and made them better at the plate. On the plus side, at least I-Rod's out of the AL Central.

  8. I believe so. Kyle Farnsworth has been really good lately but there was a period of time when he absolutely sucked. I think it was only a matter of time before he started sucking again. The Yankees did a good job of selling high on him. Pudge is still a solid catcher both defensively and offensively. Molina has a great arm; but, his .586 OPS and painfully slow running speed were kind of killing the linup. Pudge should be a big upgrade offensively and not much of a downgrade defensively.
