  1. Well it all depends on the individual...

  2. if "he" were patriarchal and conservative, would Indira Gandhi ever have made it as Prime Minister?

Careful with stereotypes.  The population of India is well over a billion and there are countless Indian ex-pats living all over the world.  It's a pretty diverse bunch - socially, religiously, economically and politically.  Divide the entire Indian population by two, and you still have about twice as many Indian males as we have Americans of any gender.

So is there such a thing as "the Indian Male?"

Unlikely.  It is statistically four times more likely that there is only one archetypal American Male.

  3. Indian as in from india?  The indian males I know work long, long hours so their wives can stay home, take care of the kids and house and be traditional wives.  They also are very religious- I cleaned for a family about 3 years ago where you had certain cloths and rags to use in one area of the house, certains ones for another, you had to clean the floors just so, and they had some kind of salting ritual they did on the floor when they moved in.  All this was because of their religious beliefs.

Also, they are very patriarchal and conservative by OUR standards.  Their daughters don't date until they are being courted, and often this is set up by the families (who is courting whom) and they are expected to marry a person in their religion and from India.  They are also expected to observe the dress rules and modesty rules even if they are in another country.

  4. Religious - yes - for the sake of identity - like everyone else

I am yet to meet a religious person who actually believes in God

Patriarchical - yes - but who isn't (that's why feminism appeared anyhow)

Conservative - well that depends on his risk appetite

  5. Yes are still religious, they are traditional people yet.

  6. Feminism has made this debate useless.  I hope your judge's are not all  woman.  If they are and you win you are really good.  By the way. the American Indian male is still patriarchal, but swayed by the ways of the world.
