I just got my first tray Aug 19th 2008. I am now on day 3 and I am still having tooth soreness as well as my bottom tray is killing my bottom lip. Also when I take it off to eat it hurts to chew or eat on my teeth. I am getting scared, I mean people were saying no it doesn't hurt just uncomfortable that is bologna. I am having a lot of pain and yes, it hurts!

  1. Yes it will subside.  It's just more sensitive now because your teeth aren't used to moving.  You'll probably notice more sensitivity for the first week or so, and then your experience will be more along the lines of what you've heard about Invisalign.  Wear your trays all the time while you have them.  If you don't wear them for a day or two your teeth will start shifting so that they don't fit right in the trays and you'll be dealing with this extreme sensitivity all over again.

  2. If the trays don't fit exactly perfectly on your teeth, sometimes your tongue or lips will scrape on the edge of the tray when you talk. This causes a raw spot that is very painful. If this starts happening, you can go to the ortho and have him/her trim the trays, but this didn't work for me at all. Dental wax has been the only thing that helps. You just put a little bit around the edge of the tray where it's hitting your lip, and it won't rub your lip raw anymore, and the sore will go away.

  3. Maby it wasn't fit correctly?

I would call your Dentist in the morning.

  4. It is normal to have some soreness and discomfort. You are moving your teeth. If the tray is hitting your lip, it can be adjusted. I would call my dentist and have him/her take a look. You may be fine, but I would want to know for sure.

  5. I'm going through Invisalign.  I'm 6 months in.  The worst is probably those first few trays.  Your teeth aren't used to the shifting and they'll be sore for a few days.  Your bottom lip shouldn't hurt though.  Are the trays really tight on your teeth?  Is it rubbing against your bottom lip?  Call your orthodontist just make sure.
