  1. Yes.  Newfoundland and Labrador joined Canada in 1949.  It is the Eastern most province and is bordered by the Atlantic ocean to the East and South, and the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the West.

Newfoundland is a very old place, with evidence of human habitation dating back 9000 years.  It was the site of many battles during the times of European colonialism.

While it is not densely populated, there are numerous places to visit in Newfoundland and its people are known world-wide for their friendliness and hospitality.

Gander on the mainland, accessible by car from Québec, and St. John's or L'anse aux Meadows are two great places to visit on the island — the latter being a UNESCO World Heritage site for its ancient viking settlements.

  2. Please buy a map, and do a bit of research before asking such a stupid question.

Newfoundland is one of Canada's provinces, so yes, that would make the island of Newfoundland part of the country.

  3. Well now, there was talk a few years ago of cutting the Island off it's moorings and letting it float away but one thing the Townies and the Baymen agree on is that it will stay put where it is surrounded by Atlantic Ocean. I have to admit I am very curious - what ocean did you think it was in? And what country did you think it belonged to?

Questions such as this one really strain a person's ability to stay patient and tolerant.

  4. I really hope you are not Canadian.
