Does not say on Royal Mail website - I've looked everywhere!

I will have to go into post office tomorrow afternoon anyway to post my parcel, but would just like to know.

  1. UK.

on account of it being...erm, British.

    :-)

  2. The United Kingdom covers all the British colonies (N.I, Scotland, Wales, Isle of man etc). Great Britain is all the colonies on mainland England.

  3. It's not actually a silly question.... the Isle of Man can be a tricky one. Like the Orkneys and Shetland Isles, they are technically in the UK, but certain Royal Mail services aren't offered. I think the Isle of Man is considered "UK" for parcels, but they don't do guaranteed services (like special delivery etc)

As for responders who argue the Isle of Man is err... "British" you ask your mobile network if your inclusive minutes work there.... Err... no!!! They don't use UK network systems and it's classed as International calling!

  4. The Isle of Man is a Dependency of the British Crown, but it is not part of the UK.  See the link for further details.

You would be best to check at the Post Office as to the correct form of address, though I just did some searching on that website for hotels, and all the addresses for the Hotels are ending in Isle of Man and then the postcode....definitely not part of the UK.

  5. When sending from England you can just put "Isle of Man" or "British Isles" - or just use the post code that starts with "IM".

A bank address in Isle of Man that I use states their address as "British Isles". This might not be recognized internationally I suppose.  - the United States Postal service puts Isle of Man with the rest of the UK and gives the country code as "GB" (http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/fh_014.htm#e... )

Isle of Man is not part of the UK (see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentci... so adding UK is probably technically incorrect, though I'm sure would work.

Tricky one - I'm sure the Post Office should know!
