Question:

Is the Jericho 941 a good gun?

How would you compare it to, say, a Colt M1911A1? Personally I don't see much of a difference between them, except that the Jericho has a larger magazine capacity. Even a gun like the CZ-75 looks like an all around better purchase than the 1911. Am I missing something? Is it simply because the 1911 is more popular that it's chosen more often? Is it a matter of personal taste?

  1. The Jericho pistol, made by israeli military industries, was a very well made pistol patterned after the CZ 75.

Chambered in 9mm with an extra barrel to shoot the 41 action express, the idea was unique in that it allowed both cartridges to be fired in the same gun without changing the slide, since the 41AE had the same rim size as the 9mm.

The idea wasn't too well received by the shooting community, and the 41AE is quickly becoming an obsolete cartridge. this is mostly due to the invention of the 40 S&W round, which has skyrocketed into popularity.

As to the popularity of the 1911, it was the sidearm of the US military for 75 years. This alone guarantees its popularity with most people. It is almost infinately modifiable, and has excellent accuracy in modified form. It fits many peoples hands well, and this too can be changed by the addition or subtraction of the main spring housing and different grips. Many of the newer manufacturers offer extra capacity frames that hold ten or more rounds. It is available in all popular calibers but the 45 acp is still the favorite due to its hard hitting manstopping reputation. It is also very concealable due to its narrow profile.

The CZ 75, a very fine gun in its own right, is highly respected for its ergonomics, reliability, magazine capacity and accuracy. Double action pistols are very popular with todays shooters and the CZ is one of the finest auto pistols available today.

I love the 1911 but I don't own one anymore. My choice is a CZ clone, the EAA Witness 45acp carry comp. I shoot this gun better than any 1911 I have ever owned, and it feels better in my hand than any other pistol I have ever picked up.

Bottom line: All three of the guns mentioned are excellent guns, and it ultimately comes down to a matter of choice. Be thankful we have choices and lets all work to keep it that way.
