Is the Jungersol Fall from "Deception Point" a real meteorite?

I have just finished reading Deception Point by Dan Brown, great book by the way, and can't find anywhere if that meteorite acctually hit earth (without aliens, obviously). Everytime I search it all I find is stuff about the book, not the event.

  1. The meteorite in 'Deception Point' is purely a product of Dan Brown's imagination, although plenty of meteorites have been found in the Arctic and Antarctic, including one that we now know came from Mars. At least on research group working with that meteor believe that they found fossilized remains of once-living microbes in it. Maybe that's where Brown got the idea for his novel.
