  1. The KEO satellite is a satellite space time capsule which will be launched in 2009 or 2010 carrying messages from the citizens of present Earth to humanity 50,000 years from now, when the satellite orbiting Earth will return. This project is supported by UNESCO (who voted it Project of the 21st Century), Hutchison Whampoa and the European Space Agency, among other institutions

its real - but if it will be launched is a whole other sotry :)

  2. Very much so. I find it quite amazing. The KEO is a small, passive satellite. The KEO foundation was launched in 1994 and the launch was supposed to take place in 2001. Unfortunately, it did not launch due to various delays; the satellite will be launched in 2008/2009 and is said to travel through space and time for 50,000 years. KEO is set to carry different recorded messages to our distant descendant 50,000 years from now. Possibly answering and unlocking some of the mysteries of our universe and our origins. Everyone from all over the world was invited to record messages to witness our existence. Through it, we can attest to our individuality. It is said that the KEO carries the hopes of the world. The satellite has not been built and no contract has been tendered for its construction.

Wikipedia has some false information. I suggest going to keo.org.

  3. Yes

I just hope that there is somebody here to find it when it returns . . . .
