  1. I assume you meant 280lbs. Small is not really the best word to use. It is as "big" physically as any other bike. The question is whether or not it has enough power. It is a 690 single, but I think it would pull you fine. I just wonder if you will be comfortable on any type of sport bike. The seat to peg distance is probably going to be shorter on the Duke than the Supermoto version, but try to sit on both first to make sure.

  2. a lot depends on what style you are planning on riding.  if you are looking for a daily commuter but yet sporting play bike, the KTM 690 wouild be a good choice in my opinion... but if you are looking at alot of highway speeds or longer distances, it really isn't designed for that and will be somewhat uncomfortable.

I'm 6'3", 270 lbs and have a KTM 640 LC4 dual sport, KTM525EXC, KTM520MXC and those all pull my mass very decent and fit my height well with a few not overly expensive aftermarket parts like pegs, taller bar risers, taller seat foam, etc...  at your height, something similar will be alot more comfortable than a cruiser style bike (or at least it is to me).  if you need a few more ponies (horsepower) could always move up to looking at the KTM 950 Super Duke or Adventure but likewise, the cost will go up quite drastically also.

I have ridden several of my friends 950 (both the Super Duke & Adventure) and they are alot of fun to ride but I wouldn't take off cross country for sure.  another friend has a BMW R1200GS Adventure who has done several very long trips (CA to NH) and another 6'6" friend that has an older similar BMW that has over 140K miles without any major repairs...

so, just kinda depends on whether you are looking for short trips thru the twisties or longer hauls but these style of upright bikes will be much better for the taller rider...

  3. You only weigh 28 lbs, my god!!!!! seriously though it may be worth you going to the dealer and having a test ride to see if you are comfortable with it after all thats the only way you will know as everyone is different.
