Is the Lee Handloader a good choice for a beginner shooter/reloader?

I am a new shooter with a .380 auto. I go to the shooting range 2-3 times a month and shoot about 100 shots per visit. Ammo is getting expensive @ $13 per box of 50. I want to start reloading my own to save cash. I only use .380 rounds and don't plan to move up anytime soon. I need something in-expensive, yet I don't have lots of time to spend reloading. I have been looking at some single-stage presses, but the Lee Handloader has the right price. Is this a good choice for me?

  1. Yep, I have a challenger. Works just fine and the price is right. Buy the good die set so you don't have to lube your cases, you'll apreciate spending the extra 10 bucks. I know you said you wsere only going to use it for .380, but another plus is that lee presses accept dies made by most other mfgs.

  2. Lee loaders are great ..for what they are. They do take a lot of time to produce any quantity of ammo though. If you do your part right, great ammo too.

If your getting into reloading to support your range time habit, definitely get a press. It will save you a ton of time. If you just wanna try it..and see if it's "up your alley"...reloading, that is. A Lee Loader will teach you all the basics, in a fool proof way.
