  1. The problem with public schools  is that they are not run by the "public", but rather the unions who make demands on salary and benefits that now far exceed the average of the taxpaying individuals in private industry.  Just imagine a private company being told that no matter how lousy you are at our job,, they can't fire you,   or you get the same pay increaase as the teacher whom does the minimum while another puts in lots of overtime for theirkids.   The fact is, if people didn't have to pay school taxes, they could afford to send their kids t private schools if they want to.  Right now we are being taxed for a servide that has not really performed well and in many places has been an absoulte failure.

  2. No, totally separate (and there's a big difference between 'reforming welfare' and trying to eliminate most people from qualifing to use it).

Now, Welfare has to do with money, and anybody might be in of need help.

School choice, if you mean vouchers or home schooling, usually heads people in a religious direction. Public money used to teach kids that only their religion is the Truth is not good for the public (nor is it good for the kid, who needs to function among the public).

This isn't some trendy pc thing (by the way, Jeffereson wrote the Declaration of Independence):

  3. You do have school choice.    You just have to pay for the public schools too.   Taking money away from public schools will turn our national school system into a joke.    You are not looking at the big picture and what this would do to our country.

  4. yes. and, Mark, it already is a joke.

  5. Yes, it is the same exact battle with a different name
