It's a scam. The agent will ask you to cash the cheque and send the money to an address so they process the rest of your prize. The cheque will bounce, the bank will take the money back from your account and the agent will have your $4900 dollars. Give it someone you hate and let them cash it.

Most likely the check is a forgery.  Contact the bank on which the check is drawn to verify whether it is legitimate and whether there are sufficient funds to cover the check. In all probability the check is bogus.

i got the letter and answered it waiting for check. its interesting cause according to one couple on another question they recieved the check and they called the bank its written against and it is cashable. so i dont know yet

I got a check for 2,980 and CASHED it today! the lady i spoke to  susan moore gave me directions to send part of it via western union to some lady in Toronto! I'm going to wait and see what happens for a few days and do some research!

Hi, My name is tim i also recieved the same letter saying i won the liberty sweepstakes. I followed thru called the contact # got this guy on the line,who verified that yes i did win. He said that the company would send me a check for 3,620$ to pay my tax so i wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. That was a month ago, i'm still waiting for the check to come. OH, the check that i won was for 75,000.00$. When i got the check for 3,620.00$ I'm suppose to call back the office and they would tell me what to do next. But i have not yet recieved the 3,620.00$ check yet. Everytime i call to ask wheres the check the line is always a recording,been calling daily for three weeks,no anwser.sounds familliar? sign waiting in vain.

If they ask you to send money then it is definetaly a scam.

It is possible the check can go trough but if the check is counterfeited we have the following scenario : you send them the fee they require and after your bank void the check and ask you back the money. You will be the only one liable and since they are in Canada you can't do much. I think that's the way they are making their money. They use us to collect money from an acount. Smart !
