  1. The Lisbon treaty is the best thing that could happen in Europe, IF all heads of states forget their own agenda and nationalism and see not Germany and UK, etc, but just Europe, some people really try to do their best for Europe, but bear in mind one thing, the EU stands for an integrated Europe respecting every country roots and traditions, so the Lisbon treaty clashes with this principal because it will all be homogeneous in to one single foreign policy.

this treaty is a United Europe wannabe, a lot of power to Brussels but with heads of states creating their own policies and negotiating with Brussels, its all a big mess.

In my opinion either make a proper Constitution and a United Europe just like the UK or live it as it is because the middle ground like Lisbon will make things worse for the small nations like Ireland or Finland that have a long history of neutrality.  We can already go to another EU country and do whatever we want as if we were in our own country, we can work, have business, freedom of goods, persons and services., even you can retire in another EU state and get your pension in there, even if you worked in several EU states you pension will accumulate anyway, if you worked 5 years in Germany, 1 in the UK., 3 in France, etc, when you retire you will get your pension for these years and the total sum will be as if you worked in one country all your life. You can even go tomorrow to another state and register as an unemployed and from day 1 get welfare. What else do you want.

So, Lisbon is no good for Europe is a half baked cake, either go all the way or leave it as it is.

  2. The Lisbon treaty is dead,

In accord with the rules of ratification, it fell on division

It sought a return to Feudalism. ..a irreversible concentration of power in a non accountable bureaucracy.

Democratic deficit cannot be good ;...

Totalitarian rule is but to mimic China .. Social frustrations of practical human necessity, need acceptable norms of peaceful settlement. Only recourse so remaining would be expressed in violence.

To keep the masses in tow, it will be necessary to create a common  bogeyman. threat.  This is a recipe for "balance of power" arming.  This far outweighs the so called "green agenda"  +To ignore history, is to repeat it.

  3. Not really. Centralized power without enough checks and balances.
