  1. An MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) is composed of a Marine infantry battalion reinforced by Marine Air Wing and Force Logistics Group units.

  2. Yes it is. A MEU has all the elements to wage war in its presence.

A infantry battalion does not have all the elements traveling with it. The units that make up the MEU's are regular infantry units. It just depends what unit gets sent where.

Certain units are only a MEU while deployed and once they return to their home base they are no longer part of the MEU..So the next unit to deploy now becomes the MEU and so on.
