And if not, why do so many people parrot everything they hear on the major networks, never questioning anything?

  1. No, I don't believe it is.

  2. Not trustworthy.  People can't think for themselves so they spit out what the media feeds them...distorted reality and lies.

  3. This kind of question just begs to be answered in an absolute manner.  Yes they are or No they aren't.

Think of it like this.  In the world of facts and numbers there is almost an infinite supply of information at our fingertips.  How much time could you spend looking for statistical analysis of almost anything?  There is soooo much information out there that you don't have enough time in your life to fully understand a single day (entirely) let alone the Medias attempt to force-feed you a few hours worth of current events.

On top of the measurable facts and figures is an infinite supply of opinions ABOUT the facts and figures.  What do they mean and how do we apply them.  Okay we have a national deficit...does that mean...what does it mean?

The media is forced to make a choice about what they show you.  They know that they only have a few hours’ tops that you are going to spend watching the news.  They better make it interesting and informative so you keep watching their program.  So out of the infinite they choose to focus our small beam of attention on a few factoids at a time.

So, the question is not, "Is the media reliable or trustworthy?"

The real question is, "Do I care enough about current events to listen to what the media has chosen to show me, and then perform my own due diligence after that?"

  4. absolutely not.

People regurgitate what they hear and see in the media because they are too ignorant to seek out the truth and look further into things

  5. I know I don't believe them, I think the main stream media will one day destroy our society with all of their propaganda.

  6. helll no.  the reason is that people need to talk about things that they are not involved in directly, the reson no one questions them is because that makes you a journalist.  democracy without free press can not exist. its a double edged sword. your best bet is diversifying your resources.
