Question:

Is the Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50 good for gigging?

Its a 50 watt head so I'm wondering if the combination of this head and a 1960A cabinet would be loud enough for gigging. I heard the tone on this amp is amazing. And whats the main difference between this and the 100 watt head, other than the power.

  1. 50w TUBE is plenty powerful for ANY situation and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  

    Supposedly the difference between 50 and 100 watts is only about 4 decibels.  That's VERY little.  There IS a big difference though when you can crank the power section on an amp like that and get more tube saturation.  That's where you get the real tone.  A lot of people think ALL the tone is in the pre-amp, it's NOT.  There is a lot of different tone to be had in the power amp section.  

    50w all tube is PLENTY.
