Question:

Is the Mazda6 a good car?

I really like the style of the Mazda3's and Mazda6's. I have 2 little girls so even though I like the Mazda3 better, I would probably go with the 6 because it's bigger. Just wondering if this is a good family car as far as safety and value. Safety is my biggest concern. Also what is a good price range for this car? And what kind of gas mileage does it get? I'm not looking at a brand new one, but pretty new, 2005 or newer. Just wanted to see what others think of this car. Thanks

  1. 1) car is pretty reliable, not as reliable as some other brands but nonetheless if you take care of the car it will last you a while

    2) mazda 3 hatchback has quite a bit of room actually. the normal mazda 3 trunk space isn't a spacious as the hatchback, the 6 has a little bit more trunk space than the 3.

    3) safety wise, both cars got good crash test results and are pretty safe

    4) depending on what model you get, the mazda 6 v6 gets 17 city 25 freeway. the 4 cylinder version should get a little bit more. the mazda 3 however gets 24 city 32 freeway.

conclusion: both cars are very good cars. i would recommend the 3 over the 6 because the 3 (hatchback version only) has more than enough space for 2 kids in the back and can carry a lot of things. on top of that, it gets better gas mileage than the 6. the 3 is also cheaper  but both cars do retain their resale value.

i recommend you go to a dealership and personally check out the 3 and the 6 before you purchase your car. that way you can have a look at the interior of both cars. the 2008 mazda 6 and mazda 3 haven't had any major changes to the interior, so it should be identical to the 2005 mazda 6/3 you are looking at.

  2. yes Mazda's are good cars

  3. From one parent to another.  A bigger car will always be better regarding accidents.  However, no guarantees either way. The Mazda3 fails to get good marks on rear passenger safety unless air bags are included.  I am a satisfied owner of a Mazda3 minus the rear seat airbags. I thought that is what I was getting, but my expectations did not align with the sales invoice sticker in the window. So make sure it is in writing and you see it in writing regarding the purchase of the vehicle as opposed to the advertised safety of the vehicle. Make sense?

  4. yes its a really good car and a wide space for family.
