The National Healthcare Service is more effective than the US healthcare system in meeting the needs of their citizens: how fair is this claim?

Are there any sources (books, articles, net) that can help me to answer this question?

  1. I don't know where you can find your source material. All I can tell you is that every experience that I have ever had with the National Health Service has been very positive.

Two years ago on New Year Eve my boyfriend, who has a nut allergy, had a massive anaphylactic reaction after eating a kebab.

His heart stopped and he turned blue.

Thank God my neighbour is a nurse and with her husband managed to keep him alive while we waited for the ambulance.

The paramedics were fantastic and brought him back to life 4 times. After which his treatment in A & E and on the ward were fantastic.

I'm sure all this could have happened in the U.S. but the thing I want to stress is that:

AT NO TIME DID ANYONE ASK FOR HIS HEALTH INSURANCE DETAILS OR WHETHER HE COULD AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE TREATMENT!

I spent 6 weeks in hospital, as a child, with rheumatic fever AND NO ONE ASKED IF I HAD HEALTH INSURANCE.

How was it all paid for? By socialised healthcare. My mum and dad paid national insurance contributions all their lives and so have I.

At a time when everyone in the country (U.K.) seems to think that we are in meltdown mode, I rejoice at the existence of the N.H.S., something of which we can all be very proud.
