  1. I'd say misunderstanding or misapplication of the ideas.  I'm not thoroughly versed in all his writings, but I think he had some good ideas about self-empowerment.  He certainly had a powerful impact on the Existentialists.


  2. Not sure why noting that the strong generally get what they want is especially controversial.  

    So yeah, I'd say it's based on misunderstanding.

  3. It's justified even when it's based on a misunderstanding (which in many cases it is). For he is more controversial than even most who already *find* him controversial think he is.
