  1. It would have been helpful to say what country you are referring to, but as you use the British espression 'OAP' I'll answer for the UK. Yes, here you do need to buy a 'Senior Citizen's Railcard', costing just over £20 and valid for 12 months. Merely producing a birt certificate, for example, is not sufficient.
