I'm just starting off the book and was wondering if maybe there was something else worth reading?

  1. I've never heard of "Origin of Man," and I don't believe Darwin ever wrote it. Like the OP said, the bible is probably more your speed. Stupid people read the bible, so there you go.

  2. It is required reading for an educated person. I think you have " The Origin of Species " mixed up with " The Descent of Man ", though.

j s. For your edification; the full title is. " The Descent of Man; and Selection in Relation to s*x "

It is still required reading, whatever mistaken name you kids will give the book.

  3. its very technical. Some of it is outdated.  Don't trust the new stuff on evolution its laced with political propaganda, but be critical and enjoy.  BTW its "The Ascent of Man" not the Origin of Man or the Decent of Man.

  4. For everyone's edification, the titles of the books are "The Origin of Species" and "The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to s*x". A simple google search would have prevented at least two people from making the mistake of correcting jnmcn49 who already had it right...

Yes, they are important to read, but many people find them somewhat dry and difficult to finish.

  5. i think so , but , i only read a bit of it.

  6. Reguarding the "Assent of Man"...I got a good giggle out of it.  Its really not bad for fiction.  Kinda on the lines of being half truth half lies... kinda like the Da Vinci Code....

  7. I've read the begining and I found it to be interesting but than I kind of lost interest and stopped reading it.

  8. That book is a flop and a half. Try reading the bible.
