  1. No.  Definitely not.  Buy this piece of junk and I'll hunt you down personally...  :)  haha.  But really -- don't go for this one.  It's huge, has pretty poor quality, and you can get so much better stuff for similar price ranges.

    Some suggestions:

Sony HVR-A1U.  This is a great HD cam and can be found for around $1,500.  Its 1080i shooting capability means you'll get some AMAZING footage, and the physical size of the cam is phenomenal.  Don't be fooled -- it's tiny and weighs about two pounds, but it is THE best camera out there for size vs resolution.  I own one myself and absolutely love it.

Canon GL-2.  This isn't an HD cam, and will cost less because of it, but for around $1,100 you can pick up this reliable cam and have a great piece of equipment.

Just a few ideas...  really, unless you're going big, don't go Panasonic.  They have a great line with their HVX series, but those cams start around $4,000 and are generally used for professional applications.

Just DON'T get a $300 JVC or Sharp junker.  Anything under five hundred is going to be garbage.
