Is the Palin Attack Strategy not working?

I know we're supposed to deal in rumors only here, but I thought the latest news on the polling front was rather interesting:

Hmm...perhaps the attacks on a 17-year old girl are backfiring.

Obama told you people to back off. Maybe you should have listened to him.

  1. Wow, your ability to assess causality is severely limited.

One has nothing to do with the other chum.

For example, unprotected s*x = pregnancy. That is cause and effect. Do you understand now?

  2. Families should be off limits.

But we do need to look at what Sarah Palin has done here.

Firstly, with 5 kids to look after, and a working husband, she has chosen to take up a demanding political career above the needs of her own family. Looking after 5 kids is not easy - she's stretching herself in too many directions. Something will go wrong.

Secondly, in recently accepting the VP offer from McCain, she has chosen to put her young pregnant daughter under the media spotlight, preferring to further her own career. If she had ambitions, she should have deferred them for her daughter's sake.

Thirdly, many Republicans are going to be deeply embarrassed by this. They have worked hard, tirelessly, to promote Republican values, and within a couple days she's got problems to share (I bet I know what Bush thinks of her).

Finally, many women choose not to have children so they can dedicate themselves to their career. Fine. But Palin is trying to have both – a family of five children  -  and a demanding career.

She’s stretched in too many directions.

Palin has brought this issue on herself and the Republican party.

    Family commitments come first.

  3. If Lynn Spears decided to run for office, would everyone vote for her because her daughter was the butt off jokes for months?

Doubt it.  You guys really ARE that desperate, aren't you?  "Stop it, or the boogy man is going to come and get you!"  LOL

  4. Actually...the odds are working against McCain/Palin...with the possibility that Palin will get dumped off the GOP ticket....And BTW, Obama (50%) leads McCain (43%) in the polls....Again, you got your "polls" and I can find others that contradict it.

  5. No, and I think Obama said to back off because it is letting woman and mother's really look at the democratic candidate with a question.

If you insult everyone that has been a teen mom, and their mothers, and mothers of teens nw who say, Hey this could be my child... You are sending tons of votes to the right.

I am a mom of a teen and though I aspire for them to go to college, it is reality (as it was when I was a teen) that teens have s*x!

It happens! No one can deny it, no matter what our parents say.  Unless you are kept in a locked room until 18, our kids will have boyfriends, go to parities, try a beer, try a cigerette, skip school.  It is how us parents act/re act that shapes them after that.

  6. Richard. I love when men decide that it's the women who need to be taking care of the family. Her husband seems perfectly capable of doing so. Obviously, it is difficult to have a career and still raise the kids, but she's not doing it alone. I CHOSE to stay home with my kids b/c my husband's career was so promising and I wasn't particularly happy with my own at the time. I knew it would take some sacrifice on our part - mostly on my part) but it was a decision my husband and I made together and did not take lightly. I'm sure the Palin's had the same discussions and Mr. Palin can handle raising the kids. Maybe he's not handling things as well as she would have, but that's life.

I'm sure this is not what the Republicans would have wanted in their VP, but I find it hard to believe that McCain did not know about it. and Palin's taking this nomination means that her daughter's "secret" was made vary public. But it's my understanding that everyone in their town already knew about it, si I don't think she's hurting too bad.

  7. I was going to answer your question, then I read Richard's response.

So instead, I'm going to just go back to work on my time machine so I can travel back and be there when that dude discovers fire.

  8. Every day it's a new attack propagated by the DailyKOS. Yesterday it was about her son actually being her grandson possibly fathered by her husband. Today it is about how she wants Alaska to break away from the US. I guess it shows desperation to defame her character
