  1. No it's not. The above poster needs to be banned. So much for Top Contributor...

It's a phishing scam. just google steelesettlement.com. read this article in the journal:

    http://allbusinessauctions.wordpress.com...

btw courthouse hearings are sent by usps etc. u don't fill out pages on internet. common sense stuff...

    spoof@paypal.com also confirmed it's a phishing hoax

  2. I got my letter today, too. I get some sort of letter that is fake using paypal or ebay at least once a week and I have three paypal accounts. So it is really easy to be taken in by these types of letters. I think Bret C. did a wonderful job in answering your question! Way to go!

  3. Its is legit. Ive checked other blogging sources and did my own little investigation and found out it is true. You can look for yourself at there website and download the pdf. file. If you dont trust just type in a fake name and download it and still look at it. The lawsuit itself is about paypal not refunding money properly. The only catch to get money back thru the lawsuit you had to use a paypal method other than credit. For example "check" . Then paypal had to refuse your refund if you needed one or hold your money from you and not give it back to you for sometime. This is for transactions from 2004 to present. So for all of you lawsuit happy people who are thinking you are getting free money your wrong cause you have to tell them the transactions and the dates that it happened. If you lie you yourself are subject to lawful actions against you.

  4. The comments on the Trading Assistant Journal indicate this may not be a scam. There are several links provided from comment participants showing actual information regarding the suit and how to contact the law firm and the court to confirm.

(Same source quoted above, just the actual URL)

  5. Sure is. If you received an e-mail, instead of clicking on a link, go to their website directly: http://steelesettlement.com/

You don't need to take my word for it. Take a look here: http://bankrupt.com/CAR_Public/060302.mb...

If you search the page for "EBAY INC: Reaches Settlement in N.Y. Consumer Fraud Litigation" you will see the information you are looking for.
